Christine is a 5 year old female pet pig with a very sad story. Although we don't really know her whole life history, this past year has been very tumultuous for her. During the summer, Christine was dumped at a junk yard with her two companions, now called Elvis and Elmo. Apparently her former owner pulled his truck to the back of the junk yard, unloaded the pigs and left. A day or so later, the owner of the yard discovered the three pigs in a corner behind some old rusted cars. The junk yard owner called the SPCA
who had no room for the pigs. Then a kind pig lover heard about them and immediately went to pick the pigs up. She put all three in her van and brought them to her home where they were bathed, fed and brought inside for safe keeping. Unfortunately, Christine has a bad arthritic condition in her back legs and cannot walk up and down steps, making it hard for her to live indoors. Her savior decided to
keep Elvis and Elmo, but to allow PPN to place Christine into foster car. When she first arrived at Ross Mill Farm she was shy but now that she knows she is safe, she is very friendly and sweet. Although it is a little hard for her to stand up after sleeping or lying down for long periods, once she is up she loves to stroll the property, at her own pace. Christine will always need to take
gluclosimine as a dietary supplement to help her walk easier. But her arthritic condition does not affect her sweet demeanor or her ability to live a long, full life and be a great companion pet for a family; Your sponsorship of this wonderful pig will help to defray the costs of caring for her and will help us to help many other pigs like Christine who are just waiting for a second chance. |
