Louise is a 5 year old female pet pig who has a very sad history. When a PPN volunteer heard about Louise, she was living in a back yard and being fed scraps because she was
being fattened up to be the meal at a Memorial Day picnic. The PPN volunteer immediately asked the person not to eat a pet potbellied pig, but he refused. She eventually paid him $50.00 to give her Louise and went to pick her up right after work. Louise was quite a big pig when PPN took her in, she weighed about 120 pounds more than she does now. The volunteer did not have a crate to put
Louise in, so the fat little pig rode to her new home in the front seat of the car. Louise's new owner took great care of her and helped her loose all of her excess weight, she now is down to about 100 pounds and looks great. She was happy in her new home and made friends with Wilbur. Unfortunately, her
owners fell on hard times and lost their home due to bankruptcy. After happily living with the family for over a year, Louise was uprooted and moved again, this time to foster care. Now Louise is very standoffish when she meets new people, she is still rooming with Wilbur, but it is easy to see that she is not very happy. Unlike some of our other pigs, she is not frightened of people, she is just
cranky and would prefer to be left alone. Because of her current sad state we fear she is often passed over for potential adoption. But in her previous home she was good with children and loved attention, so we are certain when she has the security and attention of a new family, she will go back to the lovable Louise she once was. Until then, she is safe and well cared for in foster care while she
waits each day with the hopes that a family will choose her to be their own. Your sponsorship of this wonderful pig will help to defray the costs of caring for her and will help us to help many other pigs like Louise who are just waiting for a second chance. |
